Integrative Veterinary Services uses the Multiwave Locked System unit from Cutting Edge Technologies.
Laser therapy uses light to favor and accelerate the body’s natural healing processes. The laser beam is moved over the skin so that the light energy (photons) penetrates the tissue where it interacts with various molecules (chromophores) that cause different biological effects.
How does it work?
Light energy enters the damaged cells and stimulates inter-cellular activity. This reduces pain in the area and speeds recovery of the damaged cells. Once the cells recover, the healing process is complete.
Effects of MLS Laser Therapy:
- Reduced Inflammation (Vasodilation and Activation of Lymphatic Drainage System)
- Reduced Pain (Blocks Pain Signals Transmitted to Nerve Cells)
- Accelerated Tissue Repair and Cell Growth
- Improved Vascular Activity
- Increases Metabolic Activity
- Stimulation of Trigger and Acupuncture Points
- Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation from Cuts, Burns, etc.
- Improved Nerve Function
- Immunoregulation
- Faster Wound Healing (Stimulation of Fibroblast Development)
What are the most common indications for therapy?
It has been reported that the following conditions have been effectively treated with cold laser therapy:
- Arthritis
- Tendonitis
- Wounds
- Post-Surgical Swelling
- Inflamed Ears
- Lick Granuloma
- Hip Dysplasia
- Disc Disease
- Lameness
- Sinustis
- … and many more
What can be expected during a treatment?
MLS Laser Therapy is a painless treatment that can last a few seconds to many minutes, depending on the condition and area being treated. Your pet may experience a comfortable sensation at the point of application, but it is common to have no sensation during the treatment. Your pet should not feel any heat during the treatment, which is unique to MLS Laser Therapy.
What can be expected after the treatment?
Most pets experience positive results in 1 to 3 treatments, with the average course of treatment being 7 to 10 sessions. Swelling is greatly reduced and there is a rapid relief of pain. Acute conditions usually subside quickly, typically within one phase of treatments, while chronic conditions can be controlled with regular treatments. The effects of MLS Laser Therapy are cumulative; therefore, expect to see improvement as the treatment plan progresses. It is important that once your pet starts receiving laser therapy that the entire course of treatments is completed, as recommended by your doctor.
Integrative Veterinary Services now offers the option for clients to rent a hand-held Laseronix laser device that can be very effective at healing wounds and scars when treated on a daily basis.
